Cleaning Tips
We all have the experience that there is at least some trace of soap after a wash cycle. You can avoid this residue by pouring one cup of white vinegar to the last rinse cycle water. Take care not to use chlorine bleach and vinegar at once as this will lead to hazardous vapors.
If you wish to make your clothes smell fresh and soft without using a fabric softener, adding about half a cup of baking soda to the rinse cycle will work wonders!
Be ready for some more of such nature-friendly tips from me in the next few days!

Before you move on to actually wiping the floor clean, it needs to be vacuum cleaned well. This applies for non-carpeted flooring as the tiles also have dust lodged on them. Once the floor is free from dust, take a damp cloth to clean the tile surface.
If you have brick, slate, ceramic tile or no-wax floors, mix about half cup of white vinegar in half a gallon of warm water for best results. This is another tip on the lines of my eco-friendly alternatives!
Get back to me if you can share some tips like these that help the environment!

Vinegar is truly a wonderful cleaning aid. You can clean the interiors of a fridge, microwave oven and even the kitchen counter using vinegar and water. They come out spotless and free from any food stains and smells. It is very helpful for cleaning glass panes too. White vinegar that we use for cooking can also be used as a cleaning agent.
If you have greasy vessels and cooking pans, scour the surface with a little vinegar. It will remove the sticky food particles that lodge on the utensils easily. After the vessel surface is free from such grime, wash with the regular dishwashing liquid.

The ingredients needed for this room deodorizer are about 4 tablespoons of baking soda or a cup full of vinegar to be placed in a dish. This is useful for absorbing bad odors in the house. Ensure that your home has cross-ventilation and free flowing air.
Potpourri with lovely floral fragrances also freshens up the air. It lasts for about three months which is not a short period of time. You can also boil cinnamon sticks and cloves in a sachet of cheesecloth for making the air aromatic in the house.
All these options are eco-friendly and free from chemicals as you have seen!

Kitchen
When we moved into a new house, I was sure that I needed a fully equipped kitchen that would be spacious to move around. We went around looking for cabinets and also found the Do-It-Yourself variety in them.
But I must tell you that please don’t go for such DIY kitchen cabinets. They are not as simple to install as they seem. If you get even one measurement wrong, you are wasting the money on ill-fitting kitchen cabinets that will frustrate you.
Take a professional’s help for this job and rest assured that you are going to have a great kitchen!

Sometimes ants find your backyard a nice and cozy place to settle down. Soon they build up ants nests and have a long term plan of staying near your home.
Nobody likes these ants’ nests as they can cause the ants to enter the home. So we simply spray some harsh germ killer and end up affecting the environment! There is another way to do this. Just pour lots of boiling water on the nest. Though some of the ants will be killed this way, the others will get a warning that their life is in danger. They will quickly shift to a new nesting spot!

Tips
When we start thinking that our house looks dim, we try and add more lights to the rooms. But there is much more to that than just adding lights.
Open the windows and let the sunshine in for some part of the day. It will disinfect the home and make it brighter. You can also try wiping the bulbs and tube lights in your home and see the difference. The dust gathered on these lighting fixtures decreases the amount of light emitted to a certain extent.
Tell me what you do for making your home look illuminated so that I can share it with others!

The one thing that I really hate is the smell that my fridge emits if it was out of use for a while! Follow these tips for removing odors and relax!
Take four teaspoonfuls of mustard seeds and put them in a cup of water. Place this cup in the fridge to rid it of bad odor. Similarly, put two teaspoons of instant coffee powder in a flat dish or saucer and keep it in the fridge for good results. A slice of lemon kept in the fridge will also remove all the bad food smells that arise from the refrigerator.
